My Favourite Food Apps
Hello there!
In recent years there has been a huge growth in the number of "foodies" and just people having more awareness of what they are eating. To accompany this, there are a variety of different apps that you can get on your phone. These are my favourite food-related apps that can give you recipe inspiration and make you more aware of what's in your food. Enjoy!
My Favourite Food Apps*
Whenever I am planning my meals ready to do a large food shop, I always have a quick look on BBC Good Food for inspiration. I have tonnes of recipes books but sometimes you don't feel like flicking through a dozen just to find what you want. BBC Good Food have hundreds of recipes for so many different occasions and they are categorised so its easy to find what you're looking for. The recipes are easy to follow and you are supplied with nutritional information so it is simple to make smart food choices for you and your family. The feature that I like the most is that you can create an account and save recipes for later. Definitely one of my favourite food apps!
If you want more ideas on how to reduce food waste I wrote a whole blog post on it which is linked below:
Tips for Reducing Food Waste
When I moved to university I became pescatarian but if I'm honest, I had no idea how much protein I was meant to be eating in the first place. This is where MyFitnessPal came in! I am someone that cares a lot about nutrition so I wanted to make sure I was eating enough protein. MyFitnessPal is so easy to use, you simply input your data such as weight and height and it will work out how much of specific nutrients you should be eating. What makes it even easier to use is that it has a feature which allows you to scan barcodes so you can just scan your food rather than inputting it all manually. Ideal for anyone who just wants to check what is really in their food.
I do have a food account where I post food ideas regularly so feel free to follow me: little_chef_beth
I hope these have given you some insight into the variety of food apps out there!

1. BBC Good Food

The feature that I like the most is that you can create an account and save recipes for later. Definitely one of my favourite food apps!2. Change4Life Smart Recipes
Another app that gives you clear recipes is the Change4Life Smart Recipes app. I have used this recipe app to make dinner for my family before and the recipes are always super easy to follow and don't normally have a ridiculous amount of ingredients. You can save recipes and create a shopping list using the app. The recipes that are vegetarian are clearly labelled with a "V" which is perfect for me. If you need easy to follow and healthy recipes this is the app for you!3. Too Good to Go
This isn't a recipe app but is perfect for anyone wanting to save money and it helps to reduce food waste. Too Good to Go is a discounted food app which allows you to collect food from restaurants in the evenings which would normally be thrown away. This is ideal if you live in a city as there is a wide range of restaurants which use the app, this does mean you will find less choice if you live in a smaller town. Nonetheless, it is a great way of reducing food waste! If you want more ideas on how to reduce food waste I wrote a whole blog post on it which is linked below:

Whilst Instagram isn't specifically used as a food app it is becoming very popular within the food industry and among "foodies". There are lots of amazing food accounts and food photography has grown massively on social media. If you're interested in food from around the world I would definitely take a look via Instagram.I do have a food account where I post food ideas regularly so feel free to follow me: little_chef_beth
