My Favourite Herbal Teas
Hello there!
I truly am a lover of herbal teas so this post is going to be about the various herbal teas I would drink in a week. I personally love herbal teas as there seems to be an endless variety of flavours that you can buy just in local supermarkets or speciality tea shops*. There will be links to where you can buy all these teas online at the bottom of this post. I tend to just have tea bags for speed and ease but I do have a couple of infusion teas which I like to enjoy with a sweet treat if I fancy having my own afternoon tea. I've reviewed a few different types of teas so hopefully everyone finds something they would like to try. Enjoy!Green Teas
Lemon Green Tea: This is one of my favourite teas as it is quite refreshing and one that I have every morning (in my bee mug). Personally I find regular green tea has a dull flavour so having the lemon makes me a lot more perky in the mornings. I've always loved the flavour of lemon but this tea isn't sour at all, you can definitely taste it yet it is subtle at the same time. Definitely a favourite of mine!Salted Caramel Green Tea: This is probably my ultimate favourite tea as it is sweet and goes marvelously with an afternoon tea treat like a slice of banana bread or it is indulgent enough on its own. It is similar to the lemon green tea in that it is much more special than regular green tea. The one thing you notice while it is brewing is the sweet and appealing aroma. I like how it comes in individual envelops, just like the rose lemonade, as it makes the tea seem so much more luxurious and special. My favourite tea!
Fruit Teas
Raspberry Blaster Infusion Tea: This is an infusion tea from Whittard so it has to be placed in a tea pot to infuse the hot water. The flavour is very rich so it can be enjoyed on its own or with a light snack. It has a deep red colour once brewed and it has quite a tartness to it but the rosehip peel adds a light delicateness to the raspberry, apple and blackberry. The colour really makes it a classic for a tea party or to enjoy in the afternoon.Wild Blackcurrant Tea: I really enjoy blackcurrant teas as they are a little bit different from red berry teas. I have had a blackcurrant and vanilla tea before so I wanted to try one with just blackcurrant and this one has a beautiful purple colour. A small dash of honey would add another depth of sweetness. It is definitely full of flavour and a tea which can be enjoyed at any time of the day as it caffeine-free.
Apple and Lemon Infusion Tea: Just like the raspberry blaster tea, this is an infusion tea which needs to be placed in a tea pot. I bought this tea from an independent shop in Chester but I'm sure this flavour combination would be available from other brands as well. I find adding a tiny dash of honey to this tea takes away the tartness and slightly sourness from the lemon but it still has a lovely aroma.
Floral Teas
Rose Lemonade Tea: As I've mentioned in the lemon green tea, lemon is a favourite flavour of mine so when it is with a light rose flavour it has a lovely tangy after taste. This is a very elegant tea which reminds me of a refreshing lemonade in summer. The rose petals are organic and grown in Britain making it an afternoon tea classic. This tea would go very nicely with any afternoon tea treat during the summer.Camomile Flowers: This is a classic floral tea which has been made from the whole of the camomile flowers to create a juicy and light flavour. As it is simply camomile a small dash of honey will add a little sweetness. Something which makes these tea bags a little different from other brands is that they're made from a by-product of corn-starch which is biodegradeable so they're environmental friendly. I tend to place the teabags straight in a mug but often parts of the flowers comes through the bag so I would place it in a tea pot to avoid this, however the traditional flavours makes up for this.
Spiced Teas
Camomile and Spiced Apple Tea: This is a warming tea which is one of my favourites for in the evenings as it is caffeine-free and the camomile is very calming. The aroma is a lovely light spiciness and reminds me of autumn time. The sweet apples and cinnamon really compliment the soft floral camomile to give a soothing after taste. Definitely a tea I can happily sip in the cold autumn/winter evenings before drifting off to sleep. Certainly my favourite warming tea.Liquorice and Oriental Spice Tea: This is quite a different tea that some people might find quite medicinal but personally I find it relaxing just like both the camomile teas. The aroma is wonderful as you can really smell all the different depths of the spices and it reminds me of more traditional Chinese teas. It is caffeine-free so I tend to have this tea in the evenings if I want a change from the camomile and spiced apple tea. This one is also a little more sweet and rich as the spiced apple has a slightly more earthy flavour but both are very relaxing to have before bed.
